Comparative Genome-Wide Analysis of MicroRNAs and Their Target Genes in Roots of Contrasting Indica Rice Cultivars under Reproductive-Stage Drought

چکیده

Recurrent occurrence of drought stress in varying intensity has become a common phenomenon the present era global climate change, which not only causes severe yield losses but also challenges cultivation rice. This raises serious concerns for sustainable food production and security. The root plant is primarily responsible to perceive acquire sufficient water survival/optimal growth under extreme climatic conditions. Earlier studies reported involvement/important roles microRNAs (miRNAs) plants’ responses environmental/abiotic stresses. A number (738) miRNAs known be expressed different tissues environmental conditions rice, our understanding role, mode action, target genes are still elusive. Using contrasting rice [IR-64 (reproductive-stage sensitive) N-22 (drought-tolerant)] cultivars, imposed with terminal (reproductive-stage) stress, we demonstrate differential expression 270 91 novel roots cultivars response stress. Among miRNAs, osamiR812, osamiR166, osamiR156, osamiR167, osamiR396 were most differentially between cultivars. In N-22, 18 12 observed exclusively expressed, while two (zero novels) IR-64. majority gene(s) drought-responsive transcription factors playing important flower, grain development, auxin signaling, phytohormone-crosstalk. identified this study may serve as good candidates genetic improvement towards developing climate-smart production.

Genome-Wide Analysis of MicroRNAs and Their Target Genes Related to Leaf Senescence of Rice

Grain production of rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a top priority in ensuring food security for human beings. One of the approaches to increase yield is to delay leaf senescence and to extend the available time for photosynthesis. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are key regulators of aging and cellular senescence in eukaryotes. Here, to help understand their biological role in rice leaf senescence, we report ide...

Genome-wide identification and characterization of cadmium-responsive microRNAs and their target genes in radish (Raphanus sativus L.) roots

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are endogenous non-coding small RNAs that play vital regulatory roles in plant growth, development, and environmental stress responses. Cadmium (Cd) is a non-essential heavy metal that is highly toxic to living organisms. To date, a number of conserved and non-conserved miRNAs have been identified to be involved in response to Cd stress in some plant species. However, the miR...

Drought-responsive mechanisms in rice genotypes with contrasting drought tolerance during reproductive stage.

Water status is the main factor affecting rice production. In order to understand rice strategies in response to drought condition in the field, the drought-responsive mechanisms at the physiological and molecular levels were studied in two rice genotypes with contrasting susceptibility to drought stress at reproductive stage. After 20 d of drought treatment, the osmotic potential of leaves red...
